My ggg grandmother whose maiden name was Mary McCullough was born in 1801/02 in Lissan, Tyrone, Ireland. She married a John Fair who was born in 1795 in County Mayo, Ireland. It is thought they married in the 1820 timeframe. They entire family immigrated to Canada in the 1831 to 1836 timeframe. However it its possible the family came to Canada spread over several years.. Canadian records show a John Fair arriving in 1831. I have not found when the rest of the children came over. But their oldest child, a daughter, my gg grandmother arrived in Canada in 1836. She was born 1822 in Ireland, her name was Isabella Fair. That is all I know at this time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You..

My GGG Grandfather and Grandmother were John and Mary Fair. They were both born and immigrated to Canada within the time frame you have referenced in your comments. In John's obit it said he was from Sligo but his daughter Eliza's (Kidd) tombstone showed that she was born in county Mayo. I believe counties Mayo and Sligo had many border changes in those days. I do not have Mary's maiden name. The Fair's of my family immigrated to Canada circa 1830. Landed in Quebec, took boats to Brockville, Ontario Canada and set up a homestead in Lansdowne, Ontario. They prospered and had a large farm. They brought two children with them but had 5 more in Canada. I think a son Thomas who came with them may not have been their own. Thomas's obit said he was born in Cavan of different parents than John and Mary. I would love to see if our Mary was indeed a McCullough. They were members of the Church of Ireland.
