Eimer,              Hello, and bless you for your help.  I had the rootsweb page and the Ardara page, but not the Glenties or Ulster Scots page.                   I have found a great deal that is already done on my Boyds.  My GG Grandmother Isabella was born at Drumirrin (?), Lougros Point.                   My GG Grandfather was Robert Patrick Maxwell born 1856 Lackagh.  His father was Thomas Maxwell born @1835 at Lackagh, I presume.  Thomas married a Margaret McElwee and they had 7 children.  Thomas's father was Patrick.  I don't have conclusive proof, but I have a birth record I believe to be Patrick born at Point, Inver Parish.   Sadly I don't have a spouses name for Patrick.  The birth record shows that he was born to a Robert and Sarah, possibly Sarah Margaret.  This is where I have gotten.  I also have found a Freeholders index.  It shows  John, Robert and Thomas at Lackagh in 1768, William at Lackagh in 1775, and John at Tullycleave in 1768.  I believe that these are connected.  My guess is that they arrived later than 1700 and most likely about 1750.  Just a guess though.  They loved to reuse the same forenames.  Patrick is the odd one.  I often wonder if there could have been a Catholic intermarriage and Sarah Margaret came from a Catholic family?  I don't know how much Catholics might have used the name Sarah though.  Todd Maxwell  Thanks again.

I made a visit in September, and met Maxwell and Boyd cousins.  It was a wonderful trip.  I was able to stay in a house on my former family land.  Brought home many pictures.  What a wonderful place.

I have recently discovered the parents of my Margaret McElwee were George McElwee 1786-1853 and Isabella Shannon 1797-1877.  They were from the townland of Tullycleave.  There was a tax record paid by a William Shannon there in 1768.  He could have been Isabella's father but more likely her grandfather.  If so, he was my 7th great grandfather.  Pretty exciting find for me.

My Boyds come from Drumirrin area also. I am hoping to visit in 2020. I am wondering if you could direct me towards the Boyd cousins that you mentioned. 

My particular line: Robert Boyd (Jane Ramsey) - mid 1700's, Robert R. Boyd (Mary Ann Johnson) - early 1800's, John E. Hamilton (Zelma Adresta Boyd) - mid 1800's, Thomas H. Hamilton (Menema Deeds), John Anderson (Oleen Hamilton), my parents and myself.

Hello,  This is Todd Maxwell.  My email is tbmax57@comcast.net.  Send me a note, it may be easier to communicate that way.  I will say I am interested in your names.  There were quite a lot of Boyds.  I have interest in Hamilton as well.  I will say that the Boyds seemed to be like rabbits.  There are a lot of them so they are hard to sort out.  The Hamilton name is similar.  The Hamiltons I have found are in small clusters and seem to appear and disappear.  Byt they are sprinkled all over.  So they have been hard to track.  My 3G uncle George Maxwell worked for Colonel Hamilton at Rosbeg or Dowros.  I have not entirely figured out that connection and wonder if I have a Hamilton in the tree.  His sister named Margaret names her first born son James Hamilton Olney.  So, I am curious.  I have never found out who her paternal grandmother was.

I can try to send you some informatoin on folks on Loughros point by email.  I didn't find any of your names among my records.  Who do you believe came from Donegal and to where did they migrate?  I live in Pennsylvania USA.
