I am looking for the parents of Gilbert McKee,was a grandson of Gilbert Stevenson from Ballywalter,County Down.I know that Gilbert McKee immigrated to Australia somtime in the late 1800's,as he was in Gilbert Stevenson's Last Will & Testament on 19 th April 1897,which was two years before Gilbert Stevenson died which was 7 March 1898.So Gilbert Stevenson daughter must have married a McKee but have no names of her or her husband. So if anyone knows about the Mckee that I am looking for I will appreciate the information.

Thanks

Alister Smith.

    I have

LETITIA MCKEE Born C. 1844  location unknown but she married JAMES MILLAR son of SAMUEL MILLAR & AGNES STOUP.

SAMUEL & AGNES  had 7 children born 1841-1860  Ballyblack,Bangor, Camperdown, Newtownards and the last 3 in Crossnamuckley.(as far as I know!) I have assumed they moved for employment purposes but certainly remained on the Ards area. At least 4 of the children moved to NZ

Letitia's Obituary can be found at www.nzpaperspast 8 Dec 1925. Her husband James Millar had died in 1919. Her NZ death certificate will give the names of her parents if you think there is any connnection.

MARY AMELIA McKEE  born .1865 to Mary and Thomas McKee in New Zealand  married WILLIAM JOHN ALLEN  and settled in the same area of Canterbury NZ. She died I think in 1920. William probably 1909. Thomas aailed for NZ in the "Chrysolite" and worked intiially in the Otago goldfields.

THOMAS McKEE  was born about 1830 in Co Armagh and died Oct 1917 aged 87. His wife Mary died 43 years before Thomas in 1874 aged 36.

I have found it very useful to search other Irish families in the same towns /villages asthey almost definitely were all connected somehow!!!

At least you now have a record to refer to if any familiar names appear in your tree!

    Good luck!
