I am looking for relatives of Alexander (Sandy) Milligan/Mulligan/Milliken and his wife Margaret Bell who lived in Edenamohill, Parish Magheraculmoney, County Fermanagh.     They were Protestant and both buried in St Mary's Church, Ardess, Alexander in 1819 and Margaret in 1842.

They had six children, John born 1802, Thomas born 1804, William born 1806, Alexander born 1809, James born 1813 and Mary Anne born 1816.     All children were baptised in St Mary's Church, Ardess.

I am related to their son James and his wife Jane (nee Rinn) who immigrated to Australia in 1840.

Any information would be appreciated.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

The message right before your message was in the same parish and the same surname. I would suggest that you contact Lynn and see if you are related.

  • Thanks Roger.    Yes Lynn and I are already in contact.    We believe our families are connected, we just have not found exactly where at this stage.      Our Milligan relatives that came to Australia were married in the same church within months of each other and arrived in Australia about 6 months apart.   However, they settled in different areas of New South Wales, probably as this is where they were sent to work as Bounty Immigrants.

I have already found both families in the church records of St Mary's Ardess transcrip on IGP website.  There were only records of Alexander and Margaret Milligans burials, no marriage or baptism.    However all their children's baptisms and marriages seem to be in the same church.     I am not sure what other church/location I should look to find their marriage.

    Regards

You and Lynn may want to take an autosomal DNA test and see how close your are connected and maybe you will find other connections.

Here is a linkhttp://clogher.anglican.org/Parishes/index.php?p=magheraculmoney&pg=27  to the Anglican church in Magheraculmoney. Not sure how this church is connected to St. Mary's.
