I would love to find any relatives of my paternal great grandfather, John McCrea, born 1842.

BURIED Carne Graveyard, Pettigo, County Donegal, along with wife Fannie (died 1895, aged 88) and son (?) Thomas McCrea (1830 - 1910). Gravestone erected by Thomas McCrea.

  • Hello from Canada - My great grandfather, William Henry McCrea b1843 in Pettigo immigrated to Canada c1867. He lived for a while with maternal relatives, the Farrells, and next door to the Burnsides - also from Fermanagh (Boa Island). His father's name was Thomas, his mother, Mary Farrell.  I see that your John's mother's name was Fannie.  Is it possible her last name was Burnside? As it happens, William Henry McCrea married a daughter of the neighbour's - her name was Fannie Burnside. She was born 1849, but maybe Fannie is a family name? Her parents were Robert Burnsdie & Mary Johnston.

    Anyway - perhaps my William is a cousin of your John?

  • not sure if this is related at all, just in case I'll post this.  I found a Ruth McCrea b 1817 "Ireland", married Samuel Wark and moved to "Lower Canada" (Quebec), then  her husband died in Vermont sometime after 1880 - she was on the census with the kids.  My Warks were from Tyrone, and I'm trying to link this Samuel to my family - no luck yet.

    my mgm was a wark and i have had bother conecting with other familys
