We are coming to visit the area at the end of August. Looking for information on Denis (d. 1848) and Catherine Daley (d. 1836).
We'd like as much information as we can get. Thank you for your help.

Hi Douglas,
Daly/Daley is quite a common surname in our area so we would need a little more information to go on, eg. the townland from which they originated, or the names of siblings or parents. Do you have any more information on them?
Kind Regards,
Joan

Hi Joan,
I have the following information from a cemetery record.
cemetery: KERRY, Kilmurry Churchyard, Co. Kerry, Ireland
Ireland Genealogy Project Archives

KILMURRY CHURCHYARD, BALLINCUSLANE PARISH. [From Miss Mabel Raymond Macintosh.)+
1.H.S.
Erected in memory of I DENIS DALY I who died A.D. 1848
And his Wife CATHERINE I who died A.D. 1836 I By their children PATRICK & DINNIS DALY I for them & posterity.
+From the family history information I have, the Patrick listed as one of the children is my great great grandfather, and emigrated to the US from Ireland. He was born in 1824 in county Kerry Ireland.
If possible I'd love to locate the Kilmurry Churchyard in Ballincuslane Kerry Ireland, and be able to visit the cemetery as well as area in which he lived. I might even get lucky and find additional information such as Denis and Catherine's birthdate s, marriage information, etc in the local parish. Unfortunately, while my wife and I have scheduled a visit for next week, I have been unable to find the churchyard or any additional information to know where to go. There is a small place just outside of Castleisland in Kerry, labelled as Kilmurry on google maps, but there doesn't seem to be any church there.
Any information you could provide on where in county Kerry I should be looking, or additional information about Denis and Catherine Daly (their parents, siblings, births, marriage, etc) would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your help and your time.
Best Regards,
Doug Daley

Hi Douglas,
I can't find any record of a Patrick Daly born in 1824. The only Denis and Catherine Daly I could find lived in the townland of Fahaduff. Do you have the names of any other children? The church records can be checked on http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/ but those for the Castleisland area only start about 1820.
I do know where Kilmurry Churchyard is and can help you find it when you are over. It is near the village of Cordal a few miles outside Castleisland.
Hope this helps.
Kind Regards,
Joan

Hi Joan,
Thank you!!
I really appreciate you looking for Patrick Daly for us. I'll take a look at the church records link that you posted, maybe I can find a bit more information there. I'm hopeful that the church at Killmurry Churchyard may have additional information. If they are open while my wife and I are there, we'll be sure to stop in and ask.
Unfortunately I don't have a lot of information on the family back in Ireland. I have that Patrick was born in 1824 and died in 1912. He was married to Margaret or Maggie Daley, born in 1836. She died in 1904. Both of them passed away in upstate New York (one in Glens Falls, Warren County the other in South Glens Falls, Saratoga County). They are neighboring towns. The only additional information I have is that Maggie's parents were: James Gorman and Alice Carey. Though I have nothing beyond their names (information from other family members doing research).
I'm thrilled that you know where the Killmurry churchyard is. I looked on google maps at Cordal, and there is a church on the main street there. I didn't see a cemetary with it, so that may not be the right one or it might be behind it.
My wife and I will be in Kerry next Friday (August 23rd) mid-morning until Saturday (August 24th) mid-day. (If memory serves we're driving down from Limerick Friday morning, and heading to Dublin for the plane flight back on Saturday mid-day). If you'd like to meet in person during that time, we'd be happy to. If you are unavailable, I trust we'll be able to find the churchyard ourselves with your directions.
We're both looking forward to seeing this part of Ireland. We also plan to stop in Rathmore (also in Kerry) while we're there. My great-grandmother (Bridget O'Connor) is from there. Oddly enough, she married Patrick's son (John) in America after emigrating with her mother from Rathmore. I can't help but wonder if their families having come from close to each other in Ireland helped the romance along. :)
Best Regards,

Hi Doug,
I'm afraid that the church in Cordal won't have any additional information for you. All the Kerry church records that have survived are available at the link I forwarded in my last correspondence.
Kilmurry graveyard is not beside the current church but isn't far away. There is the ruin of an old church in the middle of the graveyard.I can meet you both in Castleisland on the Friday and can take you to Kilmurry graveyard if you wish. We could meet in the Country Market Restaurant around 11.00am. It's on the Main St., on the left as you come from the Limerick direction.
Let me know if you would like me to take you to Kilmurry.
All the Best,
Joan
