Thomas Fitzgerald and Mary Murphy were parents of James (1811), Mary (1813),Johanna (1816), Patrick (1817), Maurice (1819), John (1823), and Michael (1827). Most of the children have baptism records from Kilcooly except for Patrick whose record says Ballylongford.
Patrick is my 2nd great grandfather and the Fitzgerald that emigrated from Ireland. He and his siblings settled in western Massachusetts in the early 1860s: Shelburne Falls, Northampton, and Springfield. This was after a number of years living in New York city (maybe 10 years). It is hard to trace them prior to their life in New York city. I have not located them on a passenger manifest but based on the reported birthplaces of Patrick's children, I believe they came to the U.S. around 1850. Patrick married Catherine Roach but I have not found an Irish record and I think he might have first been married a young woman named Margaret who died between 1840-46.
I have several inconsistencies and would love some new ideas to try to settle the identity of my 2nd great gandfather Patrick Fitzgerald and his family.
Thanks your anything you can offer!
