My name is Cynthia (Daily) Alexander. We are descendents of John F. Daily who came to America sometime during the winter of 1848-1849 with his mother, two brothers, Patrick and Murty and one sister, Mary.
I am heading a family trip to Ireland in July 2017 for my father, Robert F. Daily's 85 birthday. We would all like to meet our family.

Hi Cynthia, what else do you know about John F. Daly? Daly is a very common name all over Ireland, you might have an estimated birth year? Also maybe you can tell us where in in America the family lived so that we can do some further research for you, it would be great if we could make this happen for you.

Hi Anne Marie,
We know the parents of Francis and James F. Daly were John Daly (born 1795) and Mary Gallivan. The lineage from there is Francis Daly(born (born 1811) -> Murty "Mortimor" Daly (born 1855) -> Thomas Burke Daily (born 1874) -> Archie Burke Daily (born 1905) -> Robert Frederick Daily(born 1932) -> Cynthia Daily Alexander (born 1970).
Thank you for your help,
Cynthia

Cynthia,
Not sure from your post whether you actually know where your Daly (or Daily) ancestors come from. In any case, you will find baptism records in Duagh parish for some of the children of John Daly and Mary Galvin. They are as follows:
John on 12 May 1821
Margaret on 31 Oct 1824
Bridget on 7 Apr 1828
Duagh baptism records begin in 1819. So your direct ancestor, Francis, does not appear. But those above are surely his siblings. These Dalys lived in the townland of Knockavallig which is very near the current village. There descendants are still there. One of their girls was in my class at primary school. If you need to make contact with these people, I can probably arrange it for you.
Let me know.

Cynthia,
Very good. I will be in Duagh next week. While there I will call on the Dalys and explain to them about your planned visit. I'd imagine they will be enthusiatic. I'll report back in about a week.

I have been trying to find Knockavallig but my search keeps leading me to Knockavilla in County Cork. Any suggestions?
