I am searching for any information about the Hallasey Family. Timothy Hallasey came to the US during the famine period. His death certificate gives his father's name as Thomas. I have located Thomas Hallasey in Kenmare church marriage and Baptism records.
That is all I am able to find. Does anyone have information about this name, family story etc.??
Appreciate any help.

Hi Margaret,
Thank you for your message.
Did you know that Kerry church records are available online for free?
http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/
Also, you can check what Catholic records are available in specific parishes using the Irish Times website. For Kenmare/Templenoe parish follow this link:
You could also check for record of the family in the land records pertaining to Ireland in the 19th century. There are two:
The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
and Griffith?s Valuation (1848-1864) found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Some other websites that may be useful are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx
Genealogy Links: http://www.genealogylinks.net/uk/ireland/kerry/index.html
Familysearch: www.familysearch.org
You could also try contacting the local studies department of Kerry County Library to see if they can give you any more information on the name or the area during the famine. Here is their webpage:

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,

Hi Margaret,
You didn't give us much information to go on. But maybe you get lucky with this one. You say that your looking for Timothy Hallasey, son of Thomas Hallasey. And he emigrated to the US around the famine period. The famine in Ireland was from 1845 to 1850, roughly. So i am deducing that Timothy Hallasey would have to be born at least 20 years earlier, sometime before 1835.
It turns out there only seems to be one set of church records that fits that description, and this is the family.
Marriage of THOMAS HALLISY of COUMADUNEEN and MARY CASEY of COUMADIREEN on 5 February 1826;
http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/1dd2680554716They seem to have at least 3 children;
Baptism of BRIDGET HALLASEY of LACKA on 11 February 1827
http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/8693c80266510Baptism of TIMOTHY HALLASEY of SHAUNTORE on 15 April 1832
http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/df4a080267213Baptism of DERMOT HALLISEY of SHANACNUCK on 9 July 1837
http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/355c860268231Margaret i haven't tracked them any further than that. See if that is any help to you.
