Did you learn any more about your Kerry Glovers? John Grenham's website shows there may be about three separate origins for this surname in Ireland (https://johngrenham.com/findasurname.php?surname=glover&search_type=variants), unless as you say one group split off from another and moved.

I have Glovers I can trace to Athlone, Westmeath in the late 1700s. I've only done sketchy research on Glovers in that area and they appear to be more prevalent in the northern part of Roscommon (seen on John Grenham's map as well, specifically in Kilkeevin parish). I also noted a Protestant connection there. In addition, though probably coincidental, after my Glover family emigrated to Quebec in about 1827, two sons apprenticed as stone cutters there ... at least that's how it was passed down orally.

Also note that John Grenham cites MacLysaght when providing this origin for the Glover surname in Ireland: "numerous: Ulster generally and Dublin. English occupational name which has been in Ireland since 15 cent."

Have you or any of your Glover relatives (older the better) done any DNA testing? My father is in many databases, but it seems any conceivable common ancestor would have lived too far back to ascertain the validity of any shared segments.

Lovely to hear from you. I have done the Ancestry DNA test and I will happily send you the details. I'm not that familiar with the DNA matching process but you are welcome to any information I have.

Most of my Glovers were based in Killeentierna in the early 1800s and were mainly stonemasons. I was never able to establish a link with the Roscommon Glovers but maybe it's there. I have a Peter Glover born in Killeentierna 1844 who emigrated to Quebec and his family grave details are :

Peter Glover died on 7 August 1919 in Notre Dame, New Brunswick, Canada, when he was 74 years old.
