My Grt, Grt, Grt, Grandparents came from County Kerry. (KIllorglin). I have been told that they married as Catholics in 1823 in Sunhill. There seems to be no records to confirm this. I am unable to find out where and to what parish they were married in. Thier names are, Mary (nee Slattery) married to Timothy MULLANE. They had a son baptised also in the same place in 1830 called Daniel Mullane. He was later tramsported to Perth Western Australia in 1853 as an Irish convict. We have no records to comfirm Mary and Timothy Mullane ie, birth, or deaths. Are you able to help with this information please? Thank you, DM

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Below are the 1823 marriage record and the 1830 baptismal record both in Killorglin RC parish. As you indicated the Mullanes lived in Sunhill which was likely a place name in Killorglin civil parish but was not made an official townland in 1851. I did not find any other baptismal records for children of Timothy and Mary. www.irishgenealogy.ie is a free Irish government site which has Co. Kerry church records. The Killorglin RC parish register is not online.
I could not find a Timothy Mullany baptismal record on www.irishgenealogy.ie There were a few Mary Slattery baptismal records although not in Killorglin. However, without knowing her parents names, you can't confirm a record.
Civil registration of deaths did not begin until 1864. I looked for death index records but did not locate a possible record.
I did look at the 1852 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Killorglin civil parish and there was a Timothy Mullowney on Mill Road likely in Killorglin town. Possibly this could be your Timothy Mullany?

Thank you Elwyn and Roger. It is so good to get confirmation of the information that I have been told in regards to my Mullane ancestors. I think I have covered every avenue of finding out that this appears to be them for sure and it is a real shame that I do not know more about Mary and Timothy's ages, birth and what happened to them before or after their son was transported to Perth Western Australia for stealing a cow. They may have already passed away being that they were there during the famine time. I only wish that the Killorglin Parish had some records on them. I really appreciate your reply and if you come up with any other suggestions for me to further my investigations then I would love to know. I did send an email to the Killorglin Parish about a year ago and they said that they had no records for those dates unfortunately. Bye for now, DM

Hi Rosetta,
The original details are still kept at the local parish churchs. In your case, it would be in Killorglin RC Church Records. However, all you would get from this I would think is an entry listing what you have above as copies can only be purchased from the registry office in Killarney and unfortunately, they do not have any births, marriages or death details pre 1864. The NLI would have micofilm copies, however, when you go online to NLI it brings you back to the Irish Genealogy site which is where I got the details from and not all births, marriage & deaths are online unfortunately. Wishing you good luck in your searches.
Kind regards,
AOS
Ann
