My great great grandparents were Thomas White and Mary Ann Linden, both born around 1825. They came to USA separately around 1845 or so and wed there...although they were engaged in IreColeand.
They may have come from Ballylongford as there are many Whites and Lindens there. I can not find them.
Their first two sons were named John and Joseph, not sure of the order so may be there father's names. First and second daughters were Mary Jane and Julia, mother's names?
Mary Ann's mother died when she was young and she was raised by an aunt, it is said with her father moving to the USA.
I think it is all I know right now. I would like to walk where they walked when I come to Ireland in March if possible...just a dream of mine
Thank you

tell me first why you think they might be from Ballylongford Mary. That will help me to help you more accurately!
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Ah you caught me!
No solid proof, just someone said there were many Lindens and Whites there and the fact that Tarbert was mentioned as maybe a White origination place. The two places are close together, correct?
County Kerry I am fairly sure of as it is mentioned many times in family "lore"
Thanks for your interest!

Mary, can you check census returns, naturalization papers or birth/marriage records in the States in case that they may give us something that would help us?
I would greatly appreciate that.

I have census records, obituaries for Mary Ann and Thomas. I have now turned to trying to find church records in the USA in Carbondale Pennsylvania. I have looked in ancestry and family search and found little to help. The family trees in ancestry all have the same problem, no parents nor location for either of them.
Hopefully, an old record may turn up from my latest inquiries of the churches which would give me their parents names.
Thank you for your interest.

Dear Mary, on the census records did they live near other families from Ireland? Sometimes this gives us a clue.
Did they have friends that remained family friends who have descendents that might have information?
Failing that there are 88 Whites listed in Ballylongford for the 1800s. The next step would be to go through and pull the ones who were born around 1825.
Only 41 links for Mary Linden Ballylonford listed in the same period
When you open the pages the surnames may not match and that is because Linden or White may be a godparent or witness to a marriage.
This is a link to Ballylongford today

Let me know how you get on Mary

Thank you for the links. They did not really help as I would have liked.
I believe that maybe Thomas White's mother was named Bridget. Thank
If Mary Ann Linden's mother died young (as I think) (after 1825) would the death show up somewhere?
I Thank you

I am coming to visit Ireland toward the end of March. I read somewhere that not all records have been digitalized here as yet. Would I actually be able to find a baptism or death record if I went to visit Tralee at the County Kerry Library and Visito Centre or Corofin for County Clare or even the National Library of Ireland in Dublin?
Thank you

Dear Mary,
Some Kerry burials are online at
http://www.kerrylaburials.ie/en/Index.aspx
The graveyards for Ballylongford are Aughavallin and Lislaughtin.
I have an opportunity to search more deeply. I will need the church and place of Mary Ann and Thomas's marriage in the US and a full list of their children, date and place of birth.
Also if you have the names of any siblings of Thomas and Mary Ann this would be an immense help.
I hope you see this message before Tuesday and can reply before then. Please open a new post so that it goes to the top of the board. Fingers crossed.
Martine
PS have you an email address I can reach you on?
