I am wanting to locate The parents of Edmund Fitzmaurice dob approx 1800-1815.

His son David Fitzmaurice was baptised 17 May1840 in Tralee parish Church.  The info below is from The Irish Genealogy web page.

It says there are further details in the record which I would like to know.

Edmund Fitmaurice was an Excise Officer in Tralee and Waterford. I have his Archive papers.

  • Dear Katy,

The best avenue would be for you to write to

    The Rector

    St John's Church

    Ashe St.

    Tralee

Given that it is a Church of Ireland Parish, there may be other records such as Parish Minutes which would give you more information. Or the Rector may know of living relatives who might have more information about your ancestor.

You might also try the 1901 census for potential matches

I'd love to hear how you get on. Please let me know.

  • Hello Martine

Thank you so much for your reply. I will write ASAP

I think Edmund would have died before the 1851 Census as his wife returned to England and she states she is a widow.  Edmund may have died in The Famine but I have also been unable to find any evidence.

  • Dear Katy, best of luck!

Would you be willing to contribute a synopsis of Edmund's papers to our website? They must be absolutely fascinating.

  • Hi

I have just used the genealogy in time - family tree search engine - it came up with quite a few hits for Edmond Fitzmaurice - so its worth looking at -  here is the link its free-  http://www.genealogyintime.com/index.html

the newsletter comes out fortnightly -

One of my breakthroughs came from looking through archives and got a probate of a will, I have now got back to the 1700's in Killarney - these have all been confirmed from the probate which had the depositions when one family member died intestate

    Good Luck
