  • I wonder if you are still receiving emails about this topic it is now 2021.

I was researching Richard Hickson from Killorglin Co Kerry and from Grenham had found another Richard Hickson from Tralee who is probably related to your Edward. The archivist in Dublin said this Richard was unlikely to be related as he appeared to be of some wealth. From the windmill at Blennerville display about the ship used to take emigrants to the US Richard Hickson had a part ahare in it.

The Richard Hickson I am researching was a nailor and worshipped at the old CoI church in Killorglin. Some years ago it was a Tapas bar and the memorial plaque was still mounted on the wall.

Happy to correspond further on the Hicksons.

    good luck, fred ..

  • Wentfalls,

I receive , but rarely use Ireland Reaching Out as I have not found it to be very constructive. Recently the ability to search the  Albert Casey material online via Ancestry.com has been much help  You can find Richard Hickson in Blennerville (which is the same as the Windmill area) My 4x great grandfather Robert Stephens, my 3x Henry Stephens,(Henry of Blennerville) also mentioned asStephens of the Windmill (clearly owned property on Windmill St), his son Robert Peare Stephens (gg) all must have known the Hicksons.  Henry bought a coastal trader boat 'Marquis de Sligo" and Robert Peare owned several sea going ships in Glasgow , Scotland.  One of those boats had successfully ( zero deaths to NY) taken passengers from Tralee. The Captain of record for that sailng John Mackinnon sailed for Robert Peare to South America and possibly Australia. Captain Mackinnon and his entire crew died in the loss of the "Prince of Wales" 1861 Brazil an International incident and financial tragedy for my family.   Richard Hickson would have also known the Day family and the Stokes. John Day Stokes married Jessie Stephens, daughter of Robert Peare Stephens. The Tralee people were a close knit group. Feel free to contact me through Ancestry  (Stephens Family Tree -one of several--but the biggest !).
