We know my husband's family is from Tuouist. We believe that there may be relatives still living there. It is not a very big town and we've been through it before. We are traveling to Ireland again in November and would love to possibly meet family members. Are there any Mahoney's still in the town?

Kassie:
There is a Tuosist Facebook page. Why not post there and see if anyone can help?

Hi Kassie,
Yes there are Mahony families living in the parish in the end furthest from Kenmare, the Glenmore area.
There was also a Mahony family which lived in the Gleninchaquin area, but there are no current living descendents.
Hope you enjoy your visit in November.

I have found the page on Facebook and will be asking just to see if I can get any information. Thank you for helping us!

Thank you Mike! This will be my 8th time to Ireland and I am eagerly looking forward to landing in Dublin and traveling Southwest/Southeast. My husband does have a third cousin who has tried to do some research and my husband thinks that the Gleninchaquin Mahony's may have been his relatives. We're just not 100% sure. We know that there a family member who passed in 1949, Timothy Mahoney, and he still lived in the area and had 10 children...we are hoping that one of them is still with us. I will continue to search but do appreciate your help. Perhaps we will get to meet a Mahony, even if it's not a relative!

Yes, Tim Mahony did live in Gleninchaquin. As far as I know, 1949 sounds about right for his death.
I believe Tim Mahony's children had emigrated to the UK before his death.
Discussion taken to email.
