I am interested in any Ring family members remaining in the Castlecomer and Clogh areas.
Also looking for death records for Edward "Ned" Ring and his wife Mary (Purcell) Ring.
They would have died in the early 1900s.
Thanks for any help

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I located a transcription of the 1871 marriage for Edward Ring and Mary Purcil/ See below. However, I did not find them in the 1901 census nor did they show up in the civil death records for the Castlecomer registration district.
I found nine baptismal/birth records for children with the last Elizabeth in 1889. There were no Elizabeth Ring 1901 census records in Co. Kilkenny. Did the family move?

All of the children emigrated to the USA in the early 1900s, except those that died in Ireland. I was looking for more information in Castlecomer as that is where my grandfather, Patrick Ring, listed as residence on his immigration paperwork at Ellis Island, NYC. Still hunting for Ned's birthplace which would lead me deeper into that leg of my heritage. Thanks for providing his father's name, John, that will help a bit.

I have Patrick's birth entry showing his father and mother and who was present at his birth if it is of any use. See below.

Thank you for the birth record. I will make it part of my family tree. On my next visit to Ireland, I plan to visit RC church and cemetery in Clogh to search for death records and gravestones. I believe The Purcell’s came from there and possibly Mary along with Ned may be buried along with her parents.

Hi Tim,
I am Simon Willis from Sydney, Australia and have been researching my Castlecomer ancestors. My ancestors, mainly Brophys and related Purcells have a connection with the Ring family. There are Ring family members currently in the Castlecomer area and I met with Tommy Ring last year during a visit.
Tommy can be contacted at info@tringplanthire.com and has indicated he is happy to provide you with as much information that he has. I have a copy of this family tree which I will be happy to send you if you contact me separately on svlwillis@gmail.com
Good luck.
Cheers,
Simon.

Hello All, thank you for all the info and peaking my interest again in finding more about my Ring / Purcell roots. My digging led me to the US Census’ for 1910, 1920 and 1930. Four girls all resided in the Boston area and were close in age. Looking at the passenger lists for Boston, I found that Ned Ring and Mary Purcell emigrated the the US in 1896 along with 5 children: Patrick , Catherine Theresa, Alice and Elizabeth. I have dates and places of death for all the children, but nothing on Ned and Mary yet. Interesting find, Patrick emigrated to Boston in 1896, but I see him coming into NY in 1905 from Ireland. Not sure why he left and then came back to a different city. But I will dig that out.
