John BRANNAN and Alice COTTER married in Danesfort parish church on 18 October 1853 and subsequently moved to Leeds, where children were born between 1855 and 1876.
Alice COTTER was from Dundaryark townland in Danesfort, and her parents were John COTTER and Margaret CODY (from baptism record 11 June 1835).
Have nothing further, going back, on John BRANNAN.
Have visited Rothe House in Kilkenny; also have found reference to John COTTER in Griffith's Valuation.
Seeking any further information on any of these families.

Hi Nigel,
Thank you very much for your message. I hope that someone with information on John makes a connection with you.
In the meantime have you tried looking for John and Alice?s marriage certificate? Sometimes the couple?s fathers? names can be listed on this which would help you in your research on John.As civil regsitration did not begin until 1864 you will have to look in church records.
Most Catholic records are held locally so you may need to write to the local parish priest for possible assistance. One website that you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. It also shows you where copies of the records are available. For Danesfort parish, follow this link:
