I am looking for information about a Doyle family who emigrated in the late 1830s, settling first in Canada, then on to NY and Minnesota in the US.
The parents were Michael and Margaret (Wilson) Doyle, and sons Edmund and Martin. Both sons were married but I am not sure if they married in Freshford or after emigrating. Edmund married Margaret Fitzpatrick, Martin married Catherine McCrea.
I am assuming these relationships from their ages, but they could have been cousins, etc.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Connie,
Thank you for your message.
Have you tried looking for information on the family in Church records? Most Catholic records are held locally. One website which you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For Freshford follow this link:
For Church of Ireland records check http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/. The Anglican Record Project is has created an index to their records: http://ireland.anglican.org/cmsfiles/pdf/AboutUs/library/AngRecord/bunclodyunionindex.pdf
You may also be able to find some records online. Family Search have a huge database of records available. You can search these here:
You can also search at www.rootsireland.ie however please be aware that you have to pay to use this site.
You could also try searching for the family in The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838). This is a set of land records pertaining to Ireland, they can be found here:
