Seeking help finding a marriage circa 1830/1840

I couldn't locate a marriage record for James and Ellen in a search between 1829 and 1848 - it would seem that this is not available. If the marriage took place in the 1830s there will be no record. You can see a list of record availability HERE. I haven't searched in Dublin though, but if you think this is a possibility you can search for free on irishgenealogy.ie Church records.  As you say, there are baptisms available for Kieran, Anastasia and Edmund and you can see the digitised originals at registers.nli.ie  - I think it's always nice to have a look at them, even if they don't yield anything more than you already know. You could take a look through the registers for the period of those earlier baptisms and see if there is a record of the children there that may have been missed by rootsireland.ie in its transcription.

Have you had a look at the Early Birth and Marriage Index yet? It is a good idea to keep an eye on it as it is updated regularly. Your ancestors might not appear now, but they may at a later date.

Thank you for your quick response and advice!  To your point, I will keep checking all the online sources as new data becomes available, hopeful that one day, the records I need appear.

I did see on John Grenham's site that the baptisms for Inistioge/Rower parish are missing for 1829-1840.  Any idea why that is?  Does this mean the records were lost or destroyed at the local parish?  Or, were they just not microfilmed? 

As time permits, I will try to get my ancestor info into the Chronicles.  Of the children of James and Ellen I mentioned, Mary and Kieran left Ireland for Boston in 1873 and sister Eleanor followed circa 1885.  Brothers James and Thomas remained in Ireland and had large families, almost all of whom immigrated to the US between 1890 and 1905, settling in Massachusetts, Connecticut Chicago &  Peoria, Illinois, and a few disappeared, never to be seen or heard from again. Edmund (b 1850) and Anastatia (b 1845)  seemed to have died young - probably didn't survive the famine years.

It could be that the entries were lost or destroyed at the local parish or that they were taken as notes after the event, to be added to the main register and never made it that far - very frustrating!
