I am trying to find any information on David MOLONY or Patrick HOGAN who are listed in the Tithe Apploment Book of 1826 for the townland of Boherlode, in the Parish of Caheravally, in the hope that they might be the families I am looking for.

Our James Molony, born 1832, who immigrated to Australia prior to his marriage there in 1860 (we have not been able to find him for certain on passenger lists) gave his parents names on his marriage certificate as David Molony, dealer, Limerick and Alice Hogan.

There were still Molony's and Hogan's in this parish in the 1850 Griffiths Valuation Survey, although I suspect the Molony's I am looking for may have relocated to Limerick City as the children born between 1832 and 1837 have been found in baptism records at St Michaels in that city.

I am visitinn Limerick in August and would dearly love to know where James came from.

    Welcome back!

I looked at the Roots transcription of James' baptismal record in 1832 and it showed the mother's first name as Elizabeth.

The RC parish register http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0872  (Donaghmore) that corresponds to Caheravally civil parish has baptisms starting in 1830 and marriages starting in 1827. Likely David's marriage occurred before 1827.

Have you considered autosomal DNA testing?

    Have a great trip!
