i would most appreciate any help in locating this man, about whom i have been able to find few definitive sources. my current information has him married to a cousin Catherine Blake, and w 2 sisters, Margaret b 1819 who married John Gearon, and Catherine, unmarried. his parents would be Michael C, called Big Mick, b 1785?1798? d 1868?58? married to a Matthews and Mary O'Brien. Michael's father would be Michael C 1761-1817 who married Lucinda Sexton.
There was a Paul C in Patrickswell in the 1830s, seemingly of humble background, often figuring in loans from the Sustainability Fund. I am not sure if this is the same Paul Cudmore as the above.
Paul had a son, James William, bc 1829 in Patrickswell (acc to family stories only). JW emigrated c 1853; he appears on the Griffith's evaluations in the 1850s, in Croom, and as lessor of a set of fields in West Ahnid that were in the Cudmore family since the mid 18th c.
This is the information from my current tree, done with the help of some good researchers. And yet, i struggle w sourced bmd dates for Paul and Michael big mick, and so am hesitant about where to place them among the larger Cudmore family in Limerick.
Any help most appreciated!!

Given the era that you are trying to research, I do not believe that you will find BMD for Michael Aka Big Mick or his son Paul. Civil registration begin in 1864, too late for your timeline. The RC records for Patrickswell/Lurriga are good and cover your timeline but do not contain any records for Michael,Paul or James William that I could see. Being in Barnakyle, it is possible that they could have used Crecora Church as Barnakyle is in that parish but those records dont start until 1851, again missing your time line.
If they were COI, I think Kilpeacon would be their closest. But your time line is too early for the online records.The earlier records of baptisms from1804-1872 and marriages from 1804-1845 were destroyed in 1922. Having said that The Cudmores appeared to use the city churches.The family burial vault where Catherine was buried is in the city centre in St Johns graveyard.
While there are a lot of mentions of the Ballyclough Cudmores AKA Paul in the newspaper archives, there does not appear to be any worthwhile mention of Michael naming his family etc. There are a few references to him being on juries but it is impossible to know if it the same Michael.

You will see that the land is listed under Paul Cudmore whose abode is given as Ballymartin. This would appear to be the Paul listed here in the link below.

In every family there is some oral history passed down. It is often the case in my experience that the stories get a litte muddled.In my opinion and it is just an opinion, there are 2 Michael Cudmores in that generation and their stories are a little muddled. One married one didnt.
I do think that trying to link in with DNA is your best option.
