my great grandfather was Michael Daly who emigrated with his sister Bridget and friend Mary Flynn from Mungret around 1878/9. Michael and Mary Flynn eventually married and settled in Winton New Zealand and had around 11 children. I have since travelled to Mungret and found Michaels parents and grandparents in the old Abbey cemetery. Michael Daly Snr and Catherine Burns and Michaels parents Anna ? And Connor Daly. Also the grave of Michaels brothers Cornelious and John Daly. John took over the family tenanted farm at Dooradoyle and was in the census 1911 with his 2 daughters and son Michael. This last Michael is also buried in the grave at Mungret in 1949 with his wife Hellene (who I believe was Helene Monahan). Michaels sisters are also buried here, Anne Wall who died in childbirth and Mary Kate who married Patrick McCormack and died in 1953.
Cornelius his uncle had 1 child Margaret Daly who like her parents Cornelious and Bridget, was a National schools teacher in Crecora though in the 1911 census her parents were retired and she was unemployed. Her parents were living at Eden Villas Crecora before they died in 1924 and 1926. Cornelius and John and my great grandfather also had 2 other sisters Catherine and Ann and another younger brother Patrick Daly that I have not been able to trace their whereabouts. It is possible they emigrated to America but I have no knowledge of that. I would really like to know if there are any living descendants of these families living in Ireland, America or elsewhere. Or any of Mary Flynns family or my great great grandparents Michael Daly and Catherine Burns siblings descendants.

Hi Eileen,
My name is John Daly and my grandfather is the Michael Daly in your post (who was married to Helena Monahan). My father's name was Cornelius as well and he had one brother John (Jackie) - both now deceased. There are nine children in my family. While I live in USA, my siblings mainly reside in the Bruree/Kilmallock area of Co. Limerick. Jackies daughter, Mary, still resides in Mungret - close to where Michael Daly used to farm.
Regards
John Daly

John, Thank you so much for your reply, you have made my year!
I have been trying to locate my Daly family for many years, as my late brother Michael did before me. Michael, your grandfathers uncle, and his sister Bridget have many descendants in New Zealand and last year I had my DNA tested and was able to get in touch with a few of them. My late brother would have been so excited to have heard from you as he was searching back in the 1970’s. I have been to Ireland 3 times and the last time at Mungret found the graves of our mutual ancestors, it felt like a return home. We always knew their names and that they lived in Mungret as passed down by Michael but not knowing the area it was a lucky accidental finding as we were on the path of Seamus O’Dalaigh one of the Maigue poets. I would love to keep in touch and discover what happened to our Irish family after Michael and Bridget left. We know fron census records but where did Michael’s brother Patrick and the 3 other sisters go and did they marry. Also is it possible you could have some photos you could exchange copies of for some of ours. So many questions and finally it is so lovely to have found you, my younger brother Kevin will also be very keen to hear. If you have any questions for me, I have so much I can pass on re names of family members. I am on ancestry.com if you have a subscription, otherwise I can just tell you via email. Please contact me privately on st_fiacre@xtra.co.nz I would be delighted to hear from you further. Cheers Eileen Norrish (née Daly)
