William Patrick O'Keefe, b: 1 Jul 1879 Templeglantine, Co. Limerick. Born to Patrick O'Keeffe (variants) and Ellen Horgan. My grandfather had at least 8 other siblings: Francis Keeffe b: 15 May 1864, Abbeyfeale, Limerick, IRE, Mary O'Keefe b: 20 Mar 1866 Templeglantine, Margaret O'Keefe 22 Feb 1868 Templeglantine, Ellen O'Keefe Jan 1870 Templeglantine, John O'Keefe 29 Feb 1872 Abbeyfeale, Lim, Johanna O'Keefe 25 Feb 1874 Templeglantine, Patrick O'Keefe 2 Aug 1876, Daniel 27 April 1878 Templeglantine. On a side note, I did not know any of this until last fall when I was researching in Dublin! That is, I did not know that my grandfather had any siblings! I have the church records and most of the civil records, so I do believe these are my ancestors.
Not being familiar with the area of Templeglantine, Tournafulla, etc, I am trying to understand a few things.
On my grandfather's NY passenger list (see attached), it shows Tournafulla. Above that town/village/area is KillicullXX? which I can't read. Either that place is for my grandfather or the person on the list above him. But, I think it was for my grandfathers record. Can anyone comment on this? Can anyone tell me the name of that place KillicullXX? If so, do you think that is the PLACE that my family lived? Is it Templeglantine, Tournafulla, or the KillicullXX? place? On my grandfather's WWII Draft Registration card he lists Templeglantine as birth place. So, I am confused.
My grandfather emigrated from Ireland and went to the US to St. Paul, Minnesota, USA where I grew up. I believe his sister Mary O'Keefe married Patrick Joseph O'Malley and also immigrated to St. Paul. I can't prove it, but most recently I have a DNA connection with the O'Malley family. I don't know if any of the other siblings emigrated. So, I am trying to learn more and if anything sounds familar here, please let me know. I think Francis was a bit of a troublemaker because I found something in the Ireland Police Gazettes that would maybe think this is my great-uncle :(.
I saw a connection to the Harnett family. On my grandfather's Naturalization he was asked if any family member served in the military and he listed Harnett and O'Mara. I know the Harnett family had or has a big presence in the area. I could not find anything on the O'Mara family.
Any input on that town or anything else here that you want to comment on would be great.

Ellen,
If I interpret this correctly, it would appear that my grandfather's sister Ellen O'Keeffe (variants) married William Long. Later, my grandfather William O'Keefe is living with his sister Ellen and her husband (1901Census).
I see on that marriage document Patrick O'Keeffe is the father. Do you think that I can be pretty sure these are my ancestors? I guess what I am asking is if there would be another O'Keefe family in that village, town, etc. ? If not, then YIPPEE!
I did not find my great-grandparents, Patrick O'Keefe and his wife Ellen Horgan in that same area in 1901. However, I did find this census record:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Cork/Liscarroll/Rocksp…; Do you think these are my great-grandparents? I'm trying to understand why they might move away from Templeglantine.
Any ideas are gratefully welcome,
Karen

The attached look likely, Patrick's death is registered by his daughter Ellen Keeffe, not the married name Ellen Long. Ellen's death is registered by her daughter Hannie (Johanna).

Johanna,
I only now saw this, months after your post. I hope that you will either see my post here, or see my email which I just sent. If that reaches your spam folder, you may not connect that email to your old response here. In that case, here is my email, and I would love to connect to you. If we are talking about the same people, and I think we are, then you and I are cousins. That would be very exciting for me.
Karen Jones ( KLKAPAUN@gmail.com) ...that second letter is an L like Lorraine and NOT a #1 :)

Hi! I am a great-great granddaughter of Mary O'Keefe and Patrick O'Malley (of St. Paul, MN). I have been searching for more information on this side of the family, so this is very helpful. If you ever want to compare family history notes, shoot me an email.
