My great grandfather was John O'Connor (b. Mount Collins ?), m. Margaret Lenihan

My grandfather John Joseph O'Connor b. 1877c (b. Mount Collins ?), died 1930 (Washington, DC); m. Cora Kinnison b. 1883 (Pennsylvania), d. 1963 (Maryland); they were married about 1922.  In 1918, his WWI draft registration lists Miss Helen Cahill (10 Church St, Boston, Massachusetts) as his nearest relative, and shows he was a naturalized US citizen, living in Washington, DC, working for US Dept of Commerce.

John Joseph (Joe) was in the seminary, but left due to illness prior to emigrating to the US - between 1910 - 1915

My father is John Kinnison O'Connor, living in Maryland at age 88.

    I looked at the 1850 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Killeedy civil parish which includes Mountcollins. I found Lenihans in the parish including a Martin Lenihan in Mountcollins. There were no O'Connors listed so possibly John lived in another parish nearby.

    I looked for a marriage index record for Mary Lenihan in the Newmarket registration district with no success. I did find two John O'Connor birth index records for 1877 in the Newmarket registration district which are below. You can write to the GRO www.groireland.ie for a copy of the birth record. Fill out their form and provide them with the year, Newcastle registration district and the volume and page numbers from the two records below. (10 and 653) and ( 15 and 559). Tell them you want the John born in Mountcollins. A record costs 4 euros. Note: there were other John O'Connors born in 1876 and 1875. There were O'Connors living in Mountcollins in the 1901 census. www.nationalarchives.ie
