Does anyone know where I might find a source that interprets and explains the headings of the columns and the specific information that appears within the columns of the tithe applotment form for Longford. The only column I understand is that of the Occupier. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

Welcome back!
I looked at the Templemichael Tithe records and it appears from the records I reviewed that they used a non-standard form which did not provide headings. Normally, the Tithe records would show the size of the holding subject to the Tithe tax and then the actual tax which would be shown in pounds and shillings (if you had a small holding, you would only have shillings to pay. Below is a Tithe sheet from a Kings Co. (Co. Offaly) parish which provides headings and better detail.
Send me a link to the record you were reviwing and I will see if I can assist.

On this sheet, they divided the land into five classes from 1st class to 5th class. First class would be the best for farming and 5th class would be all rocks and only good for sheep. The A R P at the top of each column shows you the area in acres, roods and perches. There are four roods to an acre and 40 perches to a rood. In your case, it looks like the tax was paid only on 1st class and 2nd class holdings and the tax is roughly 10% and paid in pounds/shillings.

Roger, Hi,
This is wonderful information. Your help is extraordinary and thank you so much. May I ask you please how the 10% tax percentage was calculated. Is that information on the form. I feel so relieved and happy that I now understand the information.
Thanks again,
Joyce

A tihe is 10% of your income (or in this case land value). On the bottom right hand of the sheet, the land subject to the tithe is valued at 167 pounds. 10% would be 16 pounds 7 shillings which is shown also on the bottom right of the sheet.
