Alexander sailed to North America young in life, settled in Pennsylvania.  Fought in the American Revolution, he is my 4th generation grandfather, if there is any information about this gentleman, I am most anxious to know it.

  • Sincere apologies for the very long delay in getting back to you - your message slipped passed me for some reason.

I had a look but cannot find any baptism for Alexander in Longford. There is a John McCurdy mentioned in the Muster Rolls in 1832 but that seems to be the only other reference to a McCurdy in Longford.

  • Ms. Doyle,

Is there any other McCurdy listed in any other County in Northern Ireland, not just Longford.

    Regards,

    Mrs. LaMantia

  • Hi Mrs. LaMantia

If you have a look on familysearch.org you will be able to see what records are available. The link below will give you an idea of the spread of the family name in the 19th Century:

The details will be listed here: http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
