One of my ancestors is Anthony Halligan, the father of Margaret Halligan who married Andrew Johnston. I have found two records for a birth for Margaret, November 1843, parents Anthony Halligan and Anne Keane, and February 1845 (although this is possibly Mary) parents Anthony Halligan and Cath Ryan. I'm trying to decide which is my ancestor! I have found a marriage for Anthony and Cath but not Anthony and Anne. Any information would be very welcome. Thank you.

Can you share the marriage record?

PatJW,
On the subscription site Roots Ireland, the 1845 birth does show Mary Halligan, not Margaret....her mother is Catherine Regan.
The 1843 birth for Margaret shows Thomas Halligan as one of the sponsors.
Other children of Anthony & Anne are: Mary (18 May 1839), John (22 Dec 1844), and Anthony (5 Nov 1854). The following were named as some of their children's sponsors - Michael Halligan and Judy Keane...possible siblings to the parents.
There is a gap in the marriage records for the RC parish of Kilcoman from 1836 to 1838, so you might not find their marriage record.
Regards,
Carolyn

Thank you everyone who has replied. I tried to do a print screen and paste it onto here but did not have the option. I found the record via Find my Past of a marriage between Anthony Halligan and Catharine Reilly, 23rd July 1829 in Kilcolman from the Ireland Roman Catholic Marriages records in the National Library of Ireland archive. I agree that it is Mary who was baptised in 1843, so I am assuming my ancestors were Anthony Halligan and Anne Keane.
