I looked at the 1856 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Killasser parish. I did not locate any Downs entries but did find a few Meehans including a Thomas in Carrowbeg townland. I then looked at all of Mayo for Downs in the Griffiths with no success. Also, checked the Tithe Applotment listings with the same result. Possibly they came from another county.

There is a record of the marriage of Edward & Mary 1863 Killasser RC parish on www.rootsireland.ie/

PERHAPS this record has the place of residence of bride & groom but there is a charge on rootsireland.

I couldn't find the parents' marriages in any county however

I have several of the Baptismal Certs from Roots Ireland that I obtained in researching my Meehans.  I think they are all connected still trying to figure it all out.  Let me know if they are of interest to you and if you have Microsoft Word and provide an e-mail to send them to you.

I believe these are all the same family just different spellings.  The parent Pat Meehan may have been Thomas Patrick or Patrick Thomas not sure. 

I would be interested in your Meehan information if you have some to share it may help me in my quest.

PS I can also share the ones that I know for sure are my connections.  I do believe the ones above are connected just not sure how.
