My gt. grandfather was Peter Farrelly who was the National Schoolteacher in Clane School from 1847 to his retirement in 1887.  It is believed that Peter was born in the Moynalty area of Co. Meath.  He married Margaret Tevlin in Moynalty RC church on 11 January 1850, and after his appointment at the Clane School they lived in Clane where their ten children were born.  Peter Farrelly trained at Marlboro Street Training School in Dublin in 1849.  (noted in records at the National Library (Dublin).  His wife Margaret died 6 October 1876 in Clane, and Peter Farrelly married again to Julia Coffey on 9 May 1878 in the Catholic Chapel, Clane.  Julia was the daughter of Thomas Coffey, a builder, and his wife Julia, and was born about 1856, probably in Clane, Co. Kildare.  Peter Farrelly and Julia (Coffey) had four children:  Philip b. 1880;  Julia (Juliet) b. 1881;  Richard Joseph b. 1882;  and Patrick b. 1883;  all in Clane.

On the retirement of Peter Farrelly from the school, the family moved to Kildare town, and on the 1901 census were shown at 28 Barrack Street, Kildare, when Peter was 80 years old,  and shown as born in Meath, and wife Julia was shown as age 49  born in Co. Kildare, with their family Philip a Carpenter, Julia, Richard a Carpenter, and Patrick a Machinist.  Peter Farrelly died on 12 June 1902 in Kildare.

Julia (Juliet) Farrelly b. 1881, married Thomas Lennon, a Carpenter, son of James Lennon, a Land Steward, on 10 June 1901, at the RC Chapel of Kildare, union of Naas.  The couple had four known children:  Peter James b. 1903; Phyllis Catherine b. 1904;  Mary Frances b. 1907;  and Thomas b. 1910, all in Kildare, Co. Kildare.   Julia (Juliet) Lennon was the Registrar of Births, Marriages and Deaths for the area.

Philip Farrelly b. 1880 in Kildare, married Mary Broughall on 25 April 1912 in the RC Church of Monasteravan, Athy, Co  Kildare.  She was born abt. 1891 in Walterstown, Co. Kildare, and was the daughter of Peter Broughall deceased.  The couple had 7 children:  Peter Joseph b. 1913;  Mary b. 1914;  Julia b. 1916;  Philip b. 1919;  Josephine b. 1925;  Anne b. 1928;  and Thomas b. 1930, all in Church Lane, Kildare.

I should be interested to hear from anyone connected to the family.  Regards,  Maggie
