Re: Farrelly/Tevlin/Tuite families in Moynalty Co. Meath
Hi Cath - Thank you for your message and I should be interested to hear what you find out regarding the Tevlin poets. Of course Thomas Farrelly may not have come from Moynalty - my only information on that has come from the Marriage Certificate for the 2nd marriage of his son (my gt.grandfather) Peter Farrelly, where it stated that his father was Thomas Farrelly, a Teacher, and that Peter was born in Meath. A 'definite' is that Peter Farrelly married Margaret Tevlin at Moynalty RC Church on 11 January 1850. It seems likely that Margaret Tevlin met Peter Farrelly somewhere in the Moynalty area. However, all this is so far back that I may never find the relevant records.
Margaret Tevlin's mother was Anne Tuite, and I have found a large Tuite family in the parish of Athboy. Peter and Margaret Farrelly's eldest daughter, Margaret, (born 1853), was baptised in that parish. However, Margaret herself was baptised on 13 March 1832 in the Roman Catholic Parish of Moynalty (according to a church baptism record from the Irish Family History Foundation, her parents being noted as Michael Tevlin and Anne Tuite).
I look forward to hearing more about the local Irish poets!
Best wishes from Maggie

Hi Emma - Thank you for your comment. I thought I had posted this on the original thread! I must admit, as an elderly lady, I find the site a little confusing, but you are all very helpful. Regards, Maggie

Hi Cath and Maggie
I have just recently found out that my great great great grandmother is Jane Tuite Shaughnessy born in 1782 in Athboy. d. 1857. Married to John Shaughnessy Athboy 1807.
She is buried with her youngest son John ( d. 18yrs in 1837) in the Old Protestant graveyard at St James off the mainstreet in Athboy. There is a large Headstone with names on it.
My late mother Eibhlín was an O' Shaughnessy. I am interested in finding out about the Tuites and O'Shaughnessys of Athboy. If you have any info please. I note you mention an Anne Tuite. Maybe a sister or niece of Jane?
