Hi, I am trying to connect my relative Sarah Rathborne (married to Thomas Farrelly in 1849 ) to John Rathborne and Margaret Rathborne of Annesbrook in Moynalty...I can't find anything apart from a death cert for John Rathborne around 1897. Just started my family search to help my dad so any help would be much appreciated..

Hi sharon,
I've been looking at Rathbornes on and off for a few years now and wasn't able to tie your Rathbornes into the Annesbrooke, Skearke Rathbornes yet. John Rathborne, circa 1810-1897, had only 2 sisters per the current Rathborne generation of Skearke. His sister Anne married a Peter Mulvany sometime in 1820s, my ggggrandparents. I forgotten the other sister name or what they told me about her. I'll get back in contact with them again.
Can you drop your e-mail address into Moynalty@irelandxo.com till we pool our knowledge. I'll have to review my Rathborne research before coming back to you. Either a George or Patrick Rathborne is researching Skeare Rathbornes. Have you been in contact with him. I haven't yet. I only spoke to his 1st cousins, who I went to school with sofar.
Kind regards

I have some information about the Mulvany connection on your tree, as there were other Rathbournes also married into my tree, including John Rathbourne, born 1830 just across the Meath border with Cavan, who was married to my 2x great aunt, Margaret Mulvany.
Many of the records for these families appear in Kells, with births registered in both Meath and Cavan.

Re Mulvany. Mine are Moynalty Mulvanys who originally came from Mullagh parish pre 1820s or maybe as far back as 1780s. Oral family history says my Mulvany are related to the Lisduff house Mulvanys, but its must be before paper records commence. There is a cluster of Mulvanys in this area and across the lake. Maybe they are all related long ago. If you have any more information on them, please e-mail it to Moynalty@irelandxo.com.
