After a year of searching I think I may have finally found my roots. My great great Grandfather James was born in 1845-47 On his fathers death certificate it lists his parents as Patrick Sheridan and Mary Farley. I am now under the belief that it was mispelt on death certificate and probably was Mary Farrelly. I found lots of Farrelly's on Church Records in Moynalty. Patrick and Mary were married on July 8 1844 There witnesses were Edward Sheridan and Catherine Farrelly. I could only find 3 children but I am sure there are more. James June 9 1845, Edward October 19, 1849 and Patrick March 23 1851. I believe them to be my relations too because those names are used over a few generations in my family. If anyone knows ifthese families are still in area I would love to know. I plan on visiting next time over.
Thanks Danny Sheridan NYC

Danny:
Glad you had some success. I looked at the online Irish phone book. http://www.eirphonebook.ie/# I didn't see any Sheridans in the Moynalty area but there are at least four Farrelly reocrds. Our privacy rules prevent us from providing this information directly.

Danny - my wife Mary (nee Smyth) is from Moynalty - her parents (Vincent & Eileen) had the post office there for years - she has Farrelly relations and her parents were very friendly with a Sheridan family (Jimmy & Mary.

Hi Danny, Thanks for telling me about this website. As I have told you, my father James Sheridan was born on 26/6/1907 in Moynalty. I grew up in Hayestown Navan Co Meath. We visited Moynalty regularly as my father had a ton of family there. Sadly he and all of his siblings have passed away and one of my first cousins still lives in my father's home place. The name given to the place where he grew up was 'MAIO'. His brother John inherited the family farm and lived there until his death. He predeceased his wife Lily. I am still in contact with my first cousins (not regularly as I live in Ohio) especially Maura and Stephanie. One of my four brothers, Anthony, who lives on Keerhan Lane, Sheepgrange near Collon County Meath, visits my cousin Willie who you met and he lives in Corboggy down the road from Maio. You met our cousin Willie Sheridan when you visited Meath and you've sent me photos of you with Willie outside your ancestors home place in the same area as my father's original home place. I hope you get to meet Anthony on 9/30/22. I'm so happy that we've connected and I'm glad you know that there are several descendants of my Sheridan family in the parish of Moynalty as my father had 9 siblings. It would be next to impossible to locate their numbers in the phone book as the next generation rarely have landlines. I have a lot of first, second and third cousins with mobile phones. Warm regards Bernadette
