I am a descendent of Luke Evers, born Oldcastle in 1823, son of Thomas Evers (born c. 1792) and Jane Murphy. Luke and his siblings left Oldcastle in the 1840s and 1850s, landing in New York City. Siblings include Patrick, Thomas, Laurence, James, John, Michael, Margaret and Catharine. Not sure if any of relatives stayed in Meath. Related families include Murphy, Reilly, Sweeney, Gibney, Duff(y). Also, Allwill (Olwill), Kelly and Lackey. Surname also spelled Ivers, Ivors, Eivers in the records.
The Oldcastle Parish records have extensive recordings of this family through the 1850s and less so later, so I do not know if the family and kin were pushed out or died off during the famine years.
Those who were able to leave settled safely in the United States, Canada and Australia.
Would love to connect with anyone interested in these families.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
The 1854 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Oldcastle parish did not show any Evers and variant surnames. Likely the family had left the parish.
