Griffiths Valuation for 1860 shows James Reddick’s farm. He was on plot 6, which was a farmhouse, outbuildings and 8 acres.

There was no Reddick farm in Annaseeragh in the tithes 1830, so it looks as though the family acquired it between 1830 and 1860.

PRONI has the following 2 probate abstracts:

Administration of the estate of James Reddick late of Anasora County Monaghan Farmer who died 24 November 1899 granted at Armagh to James Reddick Farmer. Effects £94.

So James died intestate. His full probate file was destroyed in the 1922 fire in Dublin.

James junior:

Probate of the Will of James Reddick late of Annaseeragh County Monaghan Farmer who died 18 January 1917 granted at Armagh to Robert Tate and Thomas Reddick Farmers. Effects £211 15s.

The family were Church of Ireland, and so you might want to search the Clontibret parish records for baptisms, marriages and burials. Baptisms start in 1850, burials in 1864 and marriages in 1845. The baptisms and marriages are on the rootsireland site (subscription). No burials on that site. There is also a copy of the records in PRONI (the public record office) in Belfast. They are not on-line and a personal visit is required to view them.

Hi Elwyn, Many thanks for your speedy response and all the information regarding the Reddick lands and wills, I will look on the PRONI site. It's given me a starting point to look for more Reddicks, ancastors and descendants. I am beginning to wonder if my great grandfather John Clarke did not come from Clontibret but perhaps another parish, though I assume he must be from Monaghan originally as otherwise how would he meet Anne Reddick? Alas his name is fairly common and its difficult to know if I've found the correct John Clarke, I wish there was still a C19th census! Many thanks again John
