My Great Grandmother Mary Elizabeth Hamill was born in County Monaghan in 1848 or 1849, to James Hamill and Alice McCue Hamill. They were Roman Catholic.
Somewhere during my years of research, I located a birth or baptismal date for her brother Patrick - August 15,1850, that was later verified by an article written about him in America. The location given was for 'Dunamoyne Church.'
I have been unable to located Mary Hamill's records through the free searches available online.
The family left for America in early 1851, eventually coming to Minnesota to live.
I would appreciate any help or ideas.

I chercked the Roots Ireland indexes and could not find a baptismal record for Mary around 1848 with a father James in Donaghmoyne RC records. There was an 1846 record with a father Owen and an 1847 record with a father Henry. I also did not find a record for Patrick in 1850.
Later this summer the National Library of Ireland plans to place all RC parish registers online for free searching. I would review the Donaghmoyne records at that time.

They were definately from County Monaghan; hopefully the availability of the RC records will reveal the correct parish.
