Hi Rita,
Thank you for your message. I have responded to this post on the Killanny parish page, where I gave some suggestions. Here is a link to that message:

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,

I have recently found a possible hint to my GGGfathers location. (Michael L Daily who was a physician. Born 1801 in County Monaghan, Roman Catholic, left Ireland in 1847 with wife Sara and 7 children from Liverpool on Ship Sarah & Louisa March 8, 1847 arrivied in New Orleans May 11, 1847). My current confusion is Errigal Keerogue, Errigal Trough and Shantavny Irish. Are these locations close to each other? It appears they are in County Tyrone. Are these locations close to County Monaghan and would there have been a school there where he got his education?

Dear Rita
As you can see from the link below, Errigal Trough is a Civil Parish in north Co. Monaghan:
http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/fuses/townlands/index.cfm?fuseaction…
A bit of that Civil Parish is also located in Co. Tyrone, as is civil parish of Errigal Keerogue where the townland of Shantavny Irish is also located:
These places are very close together.
Samual Lewis makes reference to the Parish in his Topographical Dictionary of Ireland during his travels in the early nineteenth century
There is a national school at Moy; there are three other public schools of which one at Fort Singleton is supplemented by T. Singleton Esq., who built the school house, in which the curate of the parish performed divine service twice every Sunday. There are also four hedge schools, three scriptural and four Sunday schools. (Lewis 1837, 29).
Your ancestor probably attended one of these schools mentioned.
I hope this answers your question
Best wishes
Clare Doyle
