O'Hara and Concannon

Have you got their marriage record from 1885 ? That will give at least his father's name which should help 

There were no O'Hara's listed in the Griffith's valuation in the 1850s

which might suggest that although he had lived in Tyholland that he in fact was born in Galway - this might be confirmed by the parish if there are no O'Hara baptisms Having his father's name is the key

Thanks Martin. I just have Census records for England saying 1891 and 1901 born John O'Hara born Ireland. Then 1911 Census says born Tyholland Monaghan Co. Armagh.  All 3 decades have the right siblings so is the correct family.  However I know they can be wrong  as the 1891 and 1911 Census say my Great grandma born Ireland and Roscommon but the 1901 says born Staffs which is England???  The only surviving aunt who was born OHara has info is 82  years and it was her elder sister who said her dad Patrick O'Hara dob 17.12.1887 who is John's son and my Grandad was born Galway but this dosnt seem the case as he was born Widness England and I have the certificate.  I have ordered the marriage certificate of John and Catherine as it says married Widnes England and should have that in a few days.  I check the parishes once I have John and Catherine's Marriage Certificate. Thank you for your help.

Let me know what the marriage cert says when you get it and I will see what info there might be 

Yes sometimes the census returns can be confusing - the good thing though is that English records are detailed and hopefully they should help get a bit deeper into your family dna

Hi Martin 

I now have the marriage certificate for my GG Grandada John O'Hara and my GG Grandma Catherine Concannon. It says they were married In Widness on 9th July 1885. John was 28 years and Catherine was 22 years.  John's dad's name is Bryan O'Hara. It says deceased next to it, he was a labourer.  Catherine's father is Martin Concannon but alive, he was also a labourer. It says they lived on the same street in Widnes England at the time.  Catherine must not have been able to write as she signs with a cross.  Present were John Kennedy and Mary Coogan.

Looking at Bryan O'Hara's in the Griffith's Valuations of 1855 (google his name and 'Griffith's Valuation') there is only 1 likely Bryan who resides in south Galway

How the Tyholland connection is made I am not sure
