hi,
I came across an emigration record for Hugh McGUIRK from Tydavnet, arrived New York 10 AUG 1898.
I am pretty sure this guy would be my g-Grandfather Hughs first cousin.
In 1901 my g-grandfathers brother Owen emigrated and was going to his sister Catherine in NY, and their parents were Owen McGUIRK and Rose TREANOR.
Regards,

Hi Sean,
I found a couple of Monaghan birth/baptism records for Catherine and Hugh McGuirk on rootsireland.ie.
The pages are attached.
I was able to check the parish of both records and they are Tydavnet.
Treanor was not the correct surname for Rose but it will be on the records.
You can then search for their marriage and get their parents' names to keep going back.

I googled Naturalisation Records USA and ancestry was one of the options.
However, the only Hugh McGuirk entry was blank apart from his name! (attached)

Thanks for that Col, I will have to see if anyone has access to the Naturalization records.

hi Col,
Thank you for that.
The record at Ellis Island states Hugh is 23yo when he arrived in 1898, so born 1874/5.
There is a Naturalization record for a Hugh that would tell me more about his parents, but I don't know how to access the records, or if they are online ??
