Hi, I am a descendant of Mich Crosby and Eliza Daly who were married in Balliboy, Killoughy in county offaly in 1855. They had many children, my greatgrandmother Margaret and her siblings Patrick, Elizabeth, George Thomas, Mich, Catherina, Joseph, and Mary. Some of them came to the U. S. , I was wondering if any stayed and still live in the area. Also any information on Mich or Eliza's parents. I think Eliza was born in India to a military man named Thomas Crosby in about 1837. I recently came across Eliza's wedding ring going thru an Aunt's old stuff. I have been on ancestry but can't find any additional information. Anything anyone knows would be appreciated. thanks, Jim.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
We have access to civil death records online from 1891-1940. For 1864-1890 we only have index records for now but we expect the images to be available sometime in the near future. The records are available at www.irishgenealogy.ie
I located a likely death record for Michael in 1892 and an index record for Eliza in 1888. See below.

Thank you, That is definitely the death record of my 2nd great grandfather as Margaret Fournier is his daughter. I would then assume Eliza is most likely correct as it's the same area and Michael is listed as a widower. Do you know anything about Mountbolus? It seems a very rural area, Thanks again, Jim.

Not familiar with the area. Maybe you can try Google Earth.

That would great Brian, thanks. I know Elizabeth Daly and her husband Michael Crosby were National school teachers at the Mount Bolus national school from the mid 1850's til 1880's. Many of her children appear in census' in the USA and list their mother being born in India. I assume there is a military or business connection but don't know. thanks, Jim Castagnetta.

I just saw your post. I too have Daly family from this area (Ferbane/Offally Co). I don't know anything of the family other than my 3rd great grandmother Catharine Daly married to John Hosey and had several children. Patrick, Peter, Bridget, Mary, Ellen , Elizabeth and Rose.
Most of this family (except John) came to the US and settled in NY or Indiana. If you find Catharine is a part of your family, please contact me.
Thank you,
Terri
