After many years of searching I believe I found my 2x grandparents Joseph O'Connor (Connors) and Margaret Ducie (Ducy) who were born in Ireland around 1826. the only matching record i could find anywhere was a marriage between Joseph Connors and Margaret Ducy in september 1843 in Shinrone. Their abode was shown as Brosna.the eary 1820s were married in Shinrone and withessesses were James Delahunt and Jane Ducy. The birth locations for Joseph and Margaret on an English census were given as Kllmarry. I later found information that some folk in the USA who had bithplace recorded as Killmarry were actually from Killmurryely which is in the right area. As yet I haven't been able to find birth records. Grateful for help anyone can give. regards

Thanks. Eammon. Very helpful. The Thurles connection makes sense. My great grandfather James McKeough married their daughter Margaret in England. I have traced the McKeoughs to Rahealty near Thurles and actually met a lving relative there when we visited a year or so ago as well as finding ancestors graves in Moyne graveyard. I also visited the church in Shinrone. I was fairly sure I got the right Mckeoughs and am more sure now as by researching related families in England (Powers and Morris) I traced births and marriage in Carrick-on-Suir, Killenaule and Gortnahoe. In researching the family I followed a hunch that a James McKeogh living in the same coal mining village in County durham in 1851 was related and traced his descendants to Pennsylvania. I met some on a visit to Pittsburgh and DNA matches have confirmed the link. This James was I believe born in Ballingarry. He was wounded in the Civil War shortly after arriving in the States. His descendant wern't aware of James before I made contact with a relative in the states whose descendent had the same unusual spelling of McKeough (i.e. McKaough) on US censuses as my 2xgreat grandfather. My grandad had the same MccKaough spelling on his birth certificate.
I'm going to check my DNA matches for Fitzpatrick and Maher links. i'm sure these names have come up as possible connections when researching the Powers and Morris connections.
Thanks again for your help.
