My great grandfather was Michael Dillon Conlon, b: Sept 2, 1890, and his parents were William Conlon (b: 1854/55) and Mary (Cox) Conlon (b: 1857/58). He immigrated from Boyle, Roscommon, to Boston, Masssachusetts in 1908 and lived in the US until his death in 1986.
William and Mary, who stayed in Ireland, ultimately had 9 children survive (out of 11 births), according to the 1901 & 1911 census information:
Edward Conlon b: 1880/81
John Conlon b: 1885
Michael Conlon (my great grandfather) b: 1890
Thomas Conlon b: 1892
William Conlon b: 1897/8
Bridget Conlon b: 1901
Mary Elizabeth Conlon b: 1888
Winnie Conlon b: 1896/7
I'd be glad to know any information that anyone can tell me about William Conlon (b: 1854/55) or his wife Mary (Cox) Conlon (b: 1857/58). The 1911 census indicated that William and Mary were married for 32 years which would put their year of marriage around 1878 or 1879. I did some searching at www.familysearch.org and found that they were actually married in 1874. Below is the civil index data for the marriage. You can contact the GRO www.groireland.ie and get a copy of the marriage record. Fill out their form. Provide the year of marriage, the registration district (Boyle) and the volume and page number ( 14 and 43). Costs 4 euros. The record will show the names of the fathers of the bride and groom and where they were living. I also found a baptismal index record (see below) for a child Anne born in 1876. I don't know if she was one of the two who died. Finally, the church in Boyle is St. Josephs. I don't have an e-mail address but maybe you can find on the Internet.
