Am trying to find info on my great grandfather Thomas McManus, see title, from Seltannaveeny,Kilronan Parish, Barony of Boyle, Arigna, Co. Roscommon. We cannot find any history of his isiblings, if any, or parents. He married Mary Forde (Ford) from Lietrim born 1836. The had one child James born 1861, also Arigna. James married Mary Patterson born 1872. They had5 Children John (1897-1931), Mary Bridget (1899-?), Katie Anne (1902-?), Thomas, my father, (1906-1983), Helena Agnes (1909-?), Margaret (?_?). James widowed and eventually moved to New York as did all his children. If anyone can break this brick wall regarding my great grandfather Thomas would appreciate it.

Peggy:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
If the family was from Arigna, the civil and RC parish would be Kilronan. I did find this record in 1835 in Kilronan but no way to confirm that it belongs to your ancestor.

I did find the 1896 civil marriage for James McManus and Mary Patterson. James was living in Seltanaveeny townland which is in Kilronan parish.

Here is the 1901 and 1811 census records for both families in Seltanaveeny

Here is the 1855 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Kilronan parish and you will note the many McMansu records including a few in Seltanaveeny. One might be the father of Thomas.
Questions?

Thank you for info you found re Thomas McManus. Wether or not this is my great grandfather is still a in question. The time frame seems correct. No, we have not been able to locate any information of Baptismal records for James but know he was born about 1861, but where and when?. Yes, we do have copies of the 1901 and1911 census. Too bad these records do not geive a specfic address or location of family home which would be a great help in confirming information. You said "Here is 1855 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Kilronan parish" however you did not includ link. Would appreciate you doing so.
Thanks so much for your efforts, Peggy McManus Paul
