McCormick/ack, McDonnell, Nolan, Finneran, Hanley

sorry for the delay in replying but there appears to be no volunteer in that area, I had a quick search of Francis McCormick and I see your problem, there are a lot of them.

First thing that strikes me is his parents married in 1845 and he ws born 19 years later in the year his two siblings died, civil records for Ireland ae available from 1864 and if they emigrated to England in 1871 they may be in that census or the 1881 or 1891 census, on Ancestry there are a lot of them including some going to America and others in Yorkshire all born around the same time, have you checked the english census or for a death record, I realise the span is considerable but if a family member identified him it would confirm the right one.

I cannot think of any other way to assist you but maybe if you post here in say 6 months there may be a volunteer for Strokestown or who knows some family there, all the names are associated with the area but with your townland knowledge it should be easier. 

I checked the Irish census for 1901 and 1911 but the few Francis McCormicks are not the right age.

Thank you for your reply. I have the civil records for the 1864 deaths of the two boys and Francis' birth and the 1871 and 1881 census for Bolton. I located a ship manifest that I believe includes Francis.  It is from the mid 1880s, but I can't recall the exact year without referring to my records. I think Francis settled in New York City, but then I lose him. Unfortunately many of the Irish Catholic Church records that would help me with all theses families are missing.

just a thought for you, I was mulling over Francis and his disappearance and wondered if maybe he lost his life in WW1, I searched British War Graves and inserted McCormick and initial F and got about 10 hits, not all are Francis and others give an age that is far too you but I see a Francis McCormick no age given lost his life in 1914 while a senior stoker I think and wondered if by a long shot as he was old to be accepted that maybe he was already in the navy. He would be 50 at the time.

Thank you for thinking of me. I believe Francis emigrated to New York City in 1886, but then I lose him. His mother said she had three sons living in the U. S. in 1897 and I have accounted for James and Patrick. There are several Francis McCormacks in the census and city directories, but the name is too common to locate him. I don't know if he married or not.

Hi, I have just read your post, I have ancesters from Cloonfinlough, clooncagh cruce

EDward Ford who married Maria Maguire had 3 children, then after Maria died he married a widow Margaret Mchearn nee Carlos who had two children, several more children came along, then in 1861 they all moved to Bolton, first in the town centre then to Bury new Rd, near to the next town Bury. I think one of the daughters married a McDonnell in Bolton. I can give you more details if you think there is a connection.
