Hi,
I am researching my mother’s family who came from Cloonta / Carrowbehy / Cloonfad in Kilkeevin parish. I am looking to find relatives / ancestors of Terence Flanagan, my g-grandfather, b. 1854 and Mary-Ann Duffy.
Their children were –
-
1894 Patrick Joseph, my grandfather, married Bridget (Delia) Flynn
-
1896 William Joseph married Bridget Flanagan
-
1898 John married Teresa Feeney
-
Bridget Flanagan, married Michael Flanagan
-
1902 Anna-Maria (Mollie) married Thomas O’Leary
If the names above strike a chord, I would love to hear from you.
Regards,
Bill O’Neill

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Hope someone reads your message and contacts you. I did find the 1901 and 1911 census records. The family lived in Cloonfower townland. For some reason John was not with the family in 1901 and likely was living with a relative.

I found the marriage record. They were married on March 27. 1893. The father of Terence was Patrick and the father of Mary Anne was also Patrick. She came from Derrylahan townland.
I also found a possible death index record for a Terence Flanagan who died later in 1911. Would that be your ancestor?

Hi Roger,
further to my last e-mail, the death record is correct. He had been working out in America and died shortly after his return to Ireland.

Hi Roger,
Long time no speak! I recently came across the attached article in some of my mother's papers. It is an article from the Roscommon Herald, written in the 1960s, entitled The O'Flynn Clan of Ballinlough (apologies for the print quality)..
A couple of things iinterested me in particular. Firstly, there seemed to be a lot of detailed information on a small town in Roscommon going back to the 1500's and secondly, there seems to be much less in the 1800's. Only Parish records really. Are there other sources for this period?
You will see that it says that it is the second instalment - unfortunately, my mother does not have a copy of the first instalment!
Regards,
Bill
