Where is Cloonoghil?

Hey there,

As i am sure you know, cloonogjil parish was merged with kilshavey and kilturra parishes in the 1800s.  Many of my relatives live there in moyrush, killandy, lisnagore, churchill, quarrfield etc... About 20 years ago when i was visiting  thy took me to the site ofnthe old  church and there eas nothing left by one stone corner of the church. Although it seems the church was gone a long time ago, my greatgrandfather was the last one burried in the churchyard in about 1912-1913. I do have pictures of it.  There are no grave stines or they are under 4 feet of grass.  My grandmother who lived in moyrush right outside of churchill lived there til 1914 and she always attended church in bunninadin. My family names are mullarkey, cunningham, mcgurin, gardiner, and mcgloin.  I would be interested in your link. Hi Chris, thanks for the great info, I knew little of that.

My interest is in the Trumble family who I have tracked back to Co. Sligo.

In the Tithe Applotment records there is a John Trumble who had land in Old Rock, Cloonoghil Parish.

I believe he lived there with his wife Ann (nee Knot) and they probably had three sons (at least): Thomas Cornelius, Meredith (1824-1907) and William (1828-1908).

Thomas and William emigrated to Australia. Meredith is my Great Great Grandfather. He became a policeman in the RIC and was posted to Co. Cork.

All of the links I have are very tenuous so I am really looking for any clues I can get hence my query about Cloonoghil. 

John Trumble and Ann Knot were probably born around 1800.

I'd be very interested in trying to find any evidence of them in Cloonoghil parish records.

My reply is a few years late but if you havent got the problen resolved I suggest you try The Church of Ireland records for Emleaghfad!
