Hi my great grandmother Mary Gearon came out with her sister Margaret to Aus/NZ in 1879. She always stated she was born January 1 1862. Father John Gearon and Mother Mary Nagle. The only birth I can find in Parish Records was for June 1 1856 which is too early. (maybe the first one died?) I can find no other record for Mary. I have been back and met relatives however I would like to confirm the birth details which would help with goinf further back.
Many Thanks Patsy

Hi Patsy
I have found that many gave a different birth date to their actual but it is possible that Mary of 1862 baptism page is missing / illegible and that the 1st Mary died . Baptisms usually performed within days of birth .
The important thing is that the parents match with your documenation in Australia .
The register in Bansha shows
Mary was baptised 1 June 1856 sponsors David Nagle & Mgt Kearney
That John Gieran and Mary Neagle were married on 31 Jan 1841 witnesses Con Gerion , Wm Butler & Thos Heffernan .

Hi...thanks so much for your prompt reply....the parents match in all documentation both in Australia and NZ. I would really like to confirm her parents lineage and how many siblings she had (I know of only two sisters). I'll continue to peruse the parish records.
Thanks again....Patsy

Hi....I'm enjoying the different threads on the message board especially in relation to the two churches (Bansha and Kilmoyler). However unfortunately I have been unable to progress further on the family line. I would like to know what happened to the parents after the two daughters emigrated to Aus/NZ and also trace the details of Catherine? who went to America,
regards....Patsy

Hi again Patsy
I hope you made some progress researching the siblings of Mary & Margaret ?
Death certs are now coming on line with free access on the Irish Government site . Deaths between 1878 and 1966 are now available on https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp.. Deaths between 1864 & 1878 are indexed and you can order a 4 euro photocopy through the link on bottom of details page . I had a quick look for John & Mary but could not find a match . You might find something .. The spelling on the site is how it was recorded in register. You might have to try a few variants

Keaty Bansha
I also have this family in the Parish of Kilmoyler. Most of those in the Parish Records are spelt Keating.
William Keaty born 1864 to Mary Dudley (widow) nee Griffin and John Keaty (widower).
John Keaty 1812-1867 was from Raheen, Bansha, Tipperary. His father William Keaty died before 1864.
Mary Keaty, previously Dudley, born Griffin was the Daughter of James Griffin. In birth records of her Dudley children the surname is spelt Duoly. I have managed to contact descendants in America through Mary Keaty's previous marriage; they have the name Griffin.
- and that is about as far as I have managed to discover in 30 years of research!
