A group of 7 arrived in Oakland County having left in March 1834 according to family records. Have not been able to trace back to Ireland.
I believe all were Catholic because they established a Cathlic Church after getting settled.
Doherty family is supposed to be "landed gentry" but do not know abour others. One brother(Edmond) returned to Ireland and one died as a soldier(James) Nicholas stayed, married and had 12 children. Their parents are noted to be Captain John and Mary Lynch O'Doherty.
It appears that this group made several trips to Ireland to bring siblings and future husbands and/or wives.
Andrew Dooling was married to a Mary Fitzgerald.
Mary Pendergast Crotty was the mother of James Crotty and atleast 7 of his siblings came over although many not until the death of the father Edmund in about 1848.

Maureen:
If your family(s) was/were from Cahir RC parish then Roots Ireland has baptismal records from 1776-1793 and 1809-1864. Marriages are from 1776-1880. Roots is a subscription site.
Later this summer the National Library of Ireland plans to put all RC parish registers online for free searching. You could look at the Cahir records at that time.
If you have specific names/dates with parents names, I can check the Roots Ireland indexes.
