Hello All,
I am looking for the burial place of Henry Alexander, lived in Clogheen - Shanbally - from 1859 till he died in 1890.
Henry worked as a forester for all this time in this area. Just about every grave yard has either been searched physically and or on line. I would expect him to have been buried in the Shanrahan Historical Graveyard.
He is not on the recorded headstone inscriptions. I am wondering if there are any records of the burials for here kept by any of the local churches, rather than hunting through the various grave yards. C of I would be the most likely.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated or information.
thank you MotherBear41

I checked the Parish Register list of the Representative Church Body Library, Dublin which has C of I records
Clogheen records are held locally, i e in Clogheen; whether they would have the graveyard on the record is unknown of course. The record is on rootsireland but doesn't have the graveyard!
I couldn't find a C of I parish office or church in Clogheen or Shanbally but there is a Clogheen Hidden Heart of Ireland webpage which might be helpful

Hi Col,
It seems a bit short of a street or house but anything is worth a try.
The Church of Ireland has sent me in a circle again with the sugestion I contact Nat. Archives, which I did only to be told , as I already knew, that they only have BMD and no burial recs. and that those are held at the various parishes. AH the church again?!
I will try Mr Costello and let ou know what he says, if the letter actually finds him and he replies.
Thanks again

MotherBear41,
I have attached a file that includes a copy of the death records of Henry Alexander and his wife Rose Waterman and the birth records of their eight children.
I do not know the burial location but will investigate further .

Thomas J Hussey,
First an apology for not replying to your postings in 2019.
so much has happened here since then. O became involved in a 2yesr DNA hunt for a missing parent to a cousin I never new i had and connecting with direct family from Sweden. and it was very intense tracking in detail many known and new people in detail.
Then of course Covid hit. Fortunately I did not catch it but it knocked me sideways. I always could sense the fear and that was not great. It's now 2022 and things are still only beginning to become somewhat normal.
Now I need to thank you very much for looking into Henry Alexander and the great information you have found and forwarded to me.
I still have no idea where he was buried and also his wife Rose Alexander nee Waterman.
This couple were originally from Dorset England and they married in 1859. Henry was the Forrester at Shanbally Castle from 1859 until he died in 1890. so at least 30 years there. He was responsible for selection of timber to cut, the milling and sales and replanting of the forests. He was in charge of 6 employees on the estate. Obviously he would have reported on activities to the Eatate.
I find it quite odd that I cannot locate his burial place.
I did try Mr Costello but I got totally nowhere with that.
Kind regards, I hope you all fared well with covid.
