My husband and I will be visiting Ireland for the first time next month. His family has roots there and we have some genealogy information about his great-great grandparents who married in Drangan in approximately 1846. They were Thomas Roach and Bridget Adelia Scahan. They had two sons born there -- Joseph Dennis Roach (18 Feb 1848) and William Patrick Roach (29 Sept 1850). The family then left for America separately -- Thomas in 1849/50 and Bridget in 1850/51. We plan to visit the town of Drangan while we are in Ireland and wonder if there are any records or cemeteries or any real connection with these relatives that we could visit while we are there. Thanks!

Richard:
The 1850 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing shows a Thomas Roche in Moanvurrin townland. There are also four Skehan entries including a Mary and a William in Moanvurrin.
Moanvurrin is 2.8 kilometers north of Drangan. The Church of the Immaculate Conception in Drangan is where you would want to go to check on the cemetery. Also, their records go back to 1811.
