Hello,

I posted a version of this on a general XO board and am reposting it here:

I'm looking for any ancestors / help for Michael Hennessy (b.1805?) and his wife Catherine Driscol (b. 1799 -1804?).  They married in Galbally in 1825. They had at least 2 sons, Den(n)is (b. 1826) and James (b. 1827) and possibly a {Rodger, David, Ellen, Micheal, Michael, Infant, Catherine, Mary*}.  Dennis and James came to the U.S. in the mid to late 1840's.  They had either a brother or cousin Patrick Hennessy, (son of either Michael or James Hennessy) who came to the U.S. in the very early 1840's as well.  Michael farmed a piece of property in Curraghkilbran (east of R662) south of Galbally that abuted property farmed by Dennis Driscoll. This is per the Composition of Tithes from 1830.

Michael's father may have been Charles Hennessy (born in Passage West?) and his mother might have been Catherine ? (born in Cork?).

Thanks in advance for any help!

Kevin Hennessy

Dear Kevin one of roger and Catherine’s children was roger Hennessy born 1828 and died 1878 in galbally Aherlow. He is buried in Clonbeg cemetery along with a number of his children. If you search the clonbeg historic graves website  it will give you a photo of the gravestone. A number of his children were doctors one was William involved in aiding the Knocklong rebels. Catherine died in Duntryleague. There are Hennessy’s in Curraghkilbran, Galbally ( Galbally is both a village and parish) and in Duntryleague. In the latter there are two Hennessy families. You could contact them via the post office in Galbally. Roger originally came from Carrickaroche.

Roger was on the Board of Guardians at Mictcheltown workhouse. He was an executor of my gg grandfathers will ( Patrick Troy of Curraghkibran).

Other people who might be able to help are Tim Ryan of Galbally village the local historian, Henry Frazer of Frazier’s pub Galbally village. You will need to write to them. If you don’t have any luck let me know as I have other contacts who might be able to help

This area is literally on the cork,Tipperary , limerick border so you will need to search records in all three counties depending on the record and era. I’m now searching Anglesborough, Cork as Curraghkilbran and kilbehenny are there although theoretically curraghkibran is in limerick and kilbehenny in Tipperary.
